“The Tennessean” Reported Today:
“A Nashville-based nonprofit foundation founded by “American Idol” alumni and contemporary Christian music singer-songwriter Danny Gokey has paid $1.4 million for 59.3 acres in Antioch with plans to eventually build a transitional housing complex.
Sophia’s Heart Foundation plans to use an existing building on the property at 4157 Moss Road for an information and referral program for homeless families. An equestrian therapy program and a community garden also are planned for adjacent land.
Construction plans are being drawn up for the transitional housing facility, which would house up to 30 families ….. That complex is expected to be completed in late 2017.
The 59 acres at 4157 Moss Road includes this home, which after renovations will be used for an information and referral program for homeless families.”
Gokey, a third-place finalist on season eight of “American Idol,” is known for hit songs such as “Hope in Front of Me” and “More Than You Think I Am.” Shortly after his stint on “American Idol,” the BMG recording artist launched Sophia’s Heart to help the poor, including disadvantaged children and families.”
