Of course, our favorite part was watching Danny Gokey join the soul group of George Huff, Clark Beckham, Elliott Yamin, and Brandon Rogers sing the Temptations hit “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg”.

Did anyone notice a certain guy, not known for his Idol dance moves, was not like the others?  HINT:  see photo below!

The Washington Post had some things to say about the Idol Finale:

In typical “Idol” fashion, the two-hour show had a mix of moments that were funny, emotional and just plain weird — here are the top 10 moments, in order of the episode:

8) FUNNY: 

Unintentionally, the amazingly awkward dancing between singers like Brandon Rodgers, Clark Beckham, George Huff, Danny Gokey and Elliott Yamin as they sang “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg.” We’ll miss you most of all, forced “Idol” choreography.

So, I guess Danny still hasn’t shaken the bad dancer reputation….. we still think it’s cute!

Finding Danny

And I did find Danny in the sea of WHITE in the opening song!  He came in from the right with Kimberly Locke, Colton Dixon, David Archuleta! (Or do I have the lady in the middle wrong?)

  4. OK, so Danny had his right arm in a horizontal rather than vertical position, while everyone else had both arms pointed upwards vertically? Is that (Danny) the guy who is not like the others? Am I right? If I am, do I get a gold star? 😛 😀

  8. The concert was so timely for us. We had just come through the most difficult year in our lives and for sure in our marriage of 43 years. Our hearts were broken, we doubted God for the first time since accepting Christ. We had to have a near tragedy to “have our hearts healed and beating again.

  11. You know how I’ve said Danny’s scream on “Dream On” was kind of good thing?

    Well, “Rolling Stones” remembers it:

    “Alison Iraheta, Ruben Studdard and Constantine Maroulis sounded as great as ever. Sanjaya rocked his mohawk (instead of singing — whew). Bo Bice showed that he is buttoning his shirts more often these days, while wearing a flat-top (and singing for Blood Sweat & Tears IRL). Carrie Underwood sang a just-plain-hideous version of “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” with Keith Urban. Danny Gokey’s dancing evoked his infamous “Dream On” shriek, a sound still used as punishment for shoplifting in some countries.”

  12. I saw that performance, Jan. His scream was not really that bad. I’ve heard worse. So, they were implying that Danny’s dance moves jolted their memory of his Dream On shriek? I think they need to get passed that and comment on his success instead. This is coming from Rolling Stones?? I didn’t enjoy Alison’s performance.. and I was a fan. I really liked Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban’s performance. What do I know. 😕

  13. I enjoyed the show, would of liked it better if Danny had a bigger singing part. I wish the show would of been 3 hours so we could of seen more of the past idols. They sure had a lot of great singers over the years.

  14. “Dream On” was the song that made me a Danny Gokey fan. I didn’t even know that the scream wasn’t supposed to sound like that (until I saw everyone making a mountain out of a molehill on the Internet).

  15. I think that if that scream had come from a “rocker” it would have been no big deal. But it came from inspirational/soulful Danny (who had great pitch) when two more rock-ish finalists were in “their” genre (Adam and Allison) so theit fans had to make a big deal of it.

    As I have said before, it keeps giving back 🙂

  16. Too much Constitine Merolus and not nearly enough Danny!!!! What’s up with that?!? Loved seeing all the old idols! Kelly Clarksons performance and Carrie Undewoods both stole the show!!! Beautiful🎤

  17. I liked the soulful group performance. It went by too quick though! I think Danny’s dancing was good and I thought the arm movement differential was hardly noticeable. Thanks for posting the videos!

    I do enjoy teasing Danny…. he expects me to give him a hard time.

    But he also knows it comes from a deep loyalty and respect for his talents and big heart. At least I think he knows….

    I can’t speak for Danny, Cindy. But I have had enough interaction and Danny watching to have a pretty good guess on what he is up to….

    Btw, the target date for the Spanish TYHTBA was today. I wonder if Idol commotion pushed it out a week?

  19. He’s awesome. I love that he’s singing Christian music. I have his cd. He and his wife leyicet are amazing and wonderful people. He’s a perfect example of an idol. The dance moves were perfect. Loved watching it. All the guys did a great job.
