  2. I wonder (there I go again, another “I wonder”) if the CIH album will be on a Billboard chart again this year.

  3. Loved Danny’s interview with Ed, Jan! The only problem is that Danny talks so fast and still has that accent, so it is difficult for me to understand what he is saying. (My hearing impairment doesn’t help.) I particularly was interested in the question about depression (did I see that right?) and Danny’s responses thereafter. I feel more reassured that Danny is grounded. I worry. (I’m good at that.) It’s good for Danny to tour a lot while the kids are young enough to come along and are not going to school. (So they still get to see their dad.) And hopefully, Danny is investing and/or socking away the money he earns. Especially nowadays, music careers have a short shelf life. He and his family will need an income stream for later on.

(I posted this under the interview thread as well. Hope you don’t mind.)

  4. “And hopefully, Danny is investing and/or socking away the money he earns. Especially nowadays, music careers have a short shelf life.”

I thought about this also. So many (it seems) celebrities spend as if the income stream will last forever. I believe Danny has more sense than that.

In one of Danny’s videos he put up (or one of Leyicet’s), I heard him saying something about a landscaping project would be nice, but it was out of their budget (at that time). Sounds as thought he is being practical.

  6. That’s an excellent set of stats from the year-end Billboard charts. Danny is in the top 20 of ‘independent’ artists across all genres for example? Nice… And top 5 or top 10 for CCM in some key categories as well.

  7. Christmas is Here: # 1 album (again–was #1 before, briefly) on itunes Christian albums.

It’s fun when the album is on the front page (top 15) and more fun when the cover is there beside the number (when the album takes the #1 position).

  8. I like this structure better than the one above:

Christmas is Here: # 1 album again (was #1 before, briefly)…

I don’t know how long it was at #1 this time. When I checked it this morning, that’s where it was. It is back at 2 now.

My wish is for it to stay at #1 longer.

Jan, you know how to make posts stick and stay in place instead of scrolling down. Can you do any of that sticky stuff on CIH at itunes? The next time it gets to #1, can you make it stay there a couple of weeks or so?

  9. itunes:

    RISE: #5
    M,DYK: #20
    TYHTBA: #27
Better Than I Found It: #42
    GMJ: #51
    LUYE: #52
    HIFOM: #118

    Christmas is Here: #2
    HIFOM: #25

  10. From Instagram I’ve learned that Danny has started his interviews for his album release promo. He did an interview that will be posted on 1/13/17 for Ramsey Solutions.

  11. Is Danny saying in this he will have another new English album in january 2018, or is he repeating himself on the release of Rise in January ’17?

It’s a nice spread in this attractive-looking multicultural magazine. Danny appears to be one its first series of profiles, the magazine launched in September and this should be its second quarterly issue.

  12. Admin2, my interpretation of his answers was that he would be working on a new Spanish album in 2017 and that his next album in English would launch in January 2017.

  13. It looks a little as though when CIH goes to #1 on itunes that other fans rush to buy more of their choice to regain the #1 position (pushing Danny back down). Sort of like with voting. We work hard to try to help Danny.

But that isn’t possible on itunes, is it? Can’t you buy just one copy plus gifts? I don’t think one can purchase multiple copies. Am I wrong?

  14. SNOW DAY! 😀 (And yes, Jan, you would laugh at the amount of snow on the ground here.)

  15. ” I don’t have to venture out tomorrow if I don’t want to!”

    That’s a lovely feeling, isn’t it?

  16. Yes it is, Lurker. 🙂

An interesting development ocurred today at my part time job. The two owners took me out to lunch and asked if I would manage the Company’s new website.

It’s been discovered that the beautiful new site redesign that they paid a consultant to put together did everything wrong to get high SEO: Search Engine Optimization. They are hoping I would oversee the corrections and updates. And the new site was constructed using Word Press. Just like DannyGokeyNews.

  17. Just finished wrapping gifts. The wind is blowing and rain is falling. Snow is predicted tomorrow. Now, if the electricity stays on. It’s gone off six times tonight. 🙁

    Congratulations, Jan.

  18. ” The two owners took me out to lunch and asked if I would manage the Company’s new website.”

You have had great training here! 🙂

  19. Thanks, Mr. Bing, Lurker and Cindy.

“You have had great training here!” And the best part (for me) is that I’ll have a chance to learn a whole bunch more 🙂

Geez, getting paid to work on maximizing the company’s web exposure with an industry expert? I’m very excited for the opportunity.

  20. No, I didn’t, Jan. I was too busy shoveling snow from my driveway (which slopes downhill to the garage), sidewalks, etc. But my neighbors’ little girls and their friends built a snow fort, a snowman, went sledding, and had snowball fights. They are originally from a part of California where snow is extremely rare. The girls want to be out playing in the snow pretty much all day long.

We had some snow last week, but there wasn’t much and it didn’t last. But this week, we had a cold snap (meaning the weather has stayed below freezing) and a measurable amount of snow — we got five inches, which is a lot for us.

  21. Good Morning. My husband left for work early this morning. The moon was out, and the snow was sparkling. AND… it was cold!! Hopefully, it will get warmer this week, but we’re expected to have snow on Christmas Eve.

Take care shoveling the snow, Ellen. It really is not one of my “fun” things to do. 🙁

  22. itunes:

    RISE: #4
    M,DYK: #18
    TYHTBA: #35
Better Than I Found It: #185
    GMJ: #79
    LUYE: #50
    HIFOM: #121
    MTYTIA: #162

    Christmas is Here: #3
    HIFOM: #46

Rise album cover back in first position (had been down to 4th for a week or so)

  23. Cindy3, I don’t mind shoveling (good exercise!), although I wasn’t crazy about doing it two days in a row, especially since my efforts on the first day got obliterated. But I’ve learned that if you don’t shovel right away, it often turns into solid ice that you can’t shovel.

  24. Rise single: still #4
    Album: CIH #3
I think CIH probably dropped from 2 to 3 because Lauren D. has a big (rotating) cover of her album back again. It was there before (a long time). Now it’s back and her album is 2nd. Her cover is first in the rotation. (The first one seems to me to have longer time on screen than the others.) Danny’s cover is the fourth to show. I’m expecting (hoping) that when his album gets released his cover will move to the first shown.

The Rise cover is still the first one shown in the pre-sale covers.

  25. Correction: “on longer time on”

First “on” is a mistake. Did not mean to type it there. fixed! Jan

  26. Hello!

I’ve been shoveling snow, baking Christmas cookies and trying to reclaim some order in my house. And my 40 year old cookie press broke 🙁

Ellen, 5 ” of snow is a lot. Goodness! What’s happening to your area?

    Thanks for sharing the videos.

Lurker, I was really shocked that CIH was #51 on Billboard’s list of Christian albums, but what it means is that a lot of the other artists are getting CD placement in stores. I was at a Walmart (I very seldom go to one) and I wandered through the music department and there was Lauren Daigle’s “Be Hold”. No Danny. And this is in Wisconsin! He is doing really well with digital sales but a lot of people are not exposed to the actual CD.

  27. You are a good fixer, Jan. Thank you. <3

It's not just Danny's album that is not at Wal-Mart. It is true of many artists and many stores now that physical CD's are rarely available. When Danny's country album came out, it might have been at Wal-Mart. I don't remember if I found it there, but I do remember looking. At that time they had rows of CD's. Now, no more rows and rows–just a limited selection of some artists.

The same is true of printed books. I used to find large selections of books at Wal-Mart, grocery stores, and drugstores. Many of the places that had books no longer have them. The ones that do still have them seem to have a much smaller number than ten years ago.

I believe the availability of physical CD's and printed books is because of technology and internet buying. It appears to me that malls are affected also. Twenty years ago, it was difficult to find parking spots in malls I took a friend to. The times lately I've passed malls there have been more empty spaces than filled spaces.

So with Lauren and Wal-Mart, I think it is like Lauren and itunes: She is having placement perhaps because her people are backing that placement? Maybe it is expensive?

Danny is getting there, though. I think he has something at Target, and he does have a rotating banner at itunes this time. 🙂

  28. “Danny’s wasn’t”

    I wish it was. 🙁

Also want his cover first on itunes and want his concert sales numbers reported. I see those sales numbers for others but never for Danny. 🙁 🙁

  29. I want to emphasis that I think Danny is doing great. With the 3 year drought between parting with RCA and when he put out HIFOM with BMG, I wasn’t sure he could rebuild a career.

The going was slow at first, but he has definitely made a career in Christian music. Only a year ago his band traveled in the Mercedes Sprinter, not a tour bus! He’s moved up to middle act on the Casting Crowns Tour, also filling 1,000 to 1,500 solo shows, and has blessed us with lots of music and acoustic videos.

I watch his social media numbers climbing. He’s doubled his Facebook followers since 2014. (Twitter, not so much) Climbing nicely in Instagram.

He is exceeding my hopes for him in this era. Do I want more? Of course I do!!

  30. “His first Christian album, “Hope in Front of Me,” hit number one on Billboard’s Christian charts and yielded three Top 20 singles.”

Isn’t that information incorrect, Jan? I thought the singles HIFOM and TYHTBA made the top 5, at #1 and #2 respectively, and that MTYTIA made the top 10, at least (maybe #7?) I think, to be accurate, that article should have stated that Danny’s first Christian CD yielded three top 10 hits.

  31. Ellen, there are so many Billboard charts this statement is very vague. But since they said Billboard here’s what I would have said:

Billboard Christian Albums: Hope in Front of Me #1
Billboard Holiday Albums: Christmas is Here #1
Billboard Latin Pop Albums: La Esperanza Frente A Mi #6

Billboard Chrisitian Airplay: Hope In Front of Me (song) #1
Billboard Chrisitian Airplay: Tell Your Heart to Beat Again #1
    Billboard Chrisitian Airplay: RISE #3
Billboard Chrisitian Airplay: More Than You Think I Am #6
Billboard Chrisitian Airplay: Mary, Did You Know #8
Billboard Chrisitian Airplay: Lift Up Your Eyes #13

And lots of other Billboard charts that I haven’t looked up.

But they may have used Hot Christian Songs and he hasn’t had a #1

Billboard Hot Christian Songs: Tell Your Heart to Beat Again #2
Billboard Hot Christian Songs: Hope In Front of Me (song) #4
Billboard Hot Christian Songs: RISE #9
Billboard Hot Christian Songs: Mary, Did You Know #14
Billboard Hot Christian Songs: Lift Up Your Eyes #17
Billboard Hot Christian Songs: More Than You Think I Am #17

But it would be safe to say Danny’s Christian albums have both ranked #1 and that he has FIVE Top 10 hits on Christian charts. Two that have been #1
