Flashback to 2010: Danny Gokey’s Pre-ACM Awards Concert

Danny Gokey performs on Fremont Street 2010We don’t often do flashback posts, but tonight Lauren Daigle is scheduled to perform “Back to God” with Reba McEntire at the Academy of Country Music Awards.  It reminded me of Danny Gokey performing on the Fremont Street stage with Lady Antebellum way back in April of 2010. It was one of the fantastic opportunities he had while promoting  his debut album, “My Best Days”. The free concerts were (and are still being held) prior to the Awards ceremony.  (Photo courtesy of Dave Proctor Photography.)

This is what CMT News had to say about Danny’s performance:

Danny Gokey, the third-place finalist from last year’s American Idol, is also just getting started, but with a successful debut album, he already has a legion of fans who were pleased to hear “My Best Days Are Ahead of Me,” as well as his next single, “I Will Not Say Goodbye.” He’s a confident performer, belting out album cuts such as “Be Somebody,” “Get Away,” “I Still Believe” and “Life on Ya.” He also covered two of Rascal Flatts‘ biggest hits, “What Hurts the Most” (which he had performed on American Idol) and “Life Is a Highway,” later tossing in Elvis Presley‘s “T-R-O-U-B-L-E” to complement the old-school Las Vegas vibe.

When Danny Gokey left country music, we thought it was the end of his performing on one of their award shows.  Now we say, “Never  say never”!

Here is Danny performing his second single, “I Will Not Say Goodbye” in Las Vegas

Here’s Reba’s announcement of the duet with Lauren Daigle.
