On Aug. 19, 2008, Milwaukee got what’s now one of its most “selfied” landmarks: the Bronze Fonz.
Recently the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel published an article about the statutes 10 year anniversary, and of course it included a photo of Danny Gokey and the Bronze Fonz.
The life-size statue of “Happy Days” character Arthur Fonzarelli, aka The Fonz, is a must-see for visitors. Lake Mills-based artist Gerald Sawyer created the sculpture. The TV show was based in Milwaukee and ran for 11 seasons — from 1974 to 1983.

So when Danny Gokey came home to Milwaukee as a Top 3 Finalist in May of 2009, it seemed natural that Danny would stop and visit the Fonz, hang out with some Green Bay Packers, have a parade, a record setting hometown concert for “American Idol” at the Summerfest concert grounds – and so much more! There are MANY videos of that special day for Danny and his fans. We are sharing two below:
What a fabulous snipet from Danny’s early days…hoping he always stays humble…can’t wait to see them in Wilkes Barre end of September…counting the days!! GokeyGroupie
Hi Angelsnell,
I still remember seeing the interviews of Danny’s sisters during his American Idol run — they were SHOCKED that their little brother was getting so much attention – musically and otherwise. He was just their little nerdy brother….
I agree with them that he needed a little help in the early years picking his wardrobe for the show and these type of events. Leyicet has helped greatly…. check out his boots.
