John J Moser of The Morning Call in Allentown, PA has been following Danny Gokey since his “American Idol” days – which is over ten years, You can read his latest, full interview of Danny HERE.
My three biggest take-aways from this interview are:
“Well, being my first headlining tour, we took a lot of risks on that tour. I’m a risk-taker at heart; it’s like ‘go big or go home.’ A lot of lessons learned – because from now on, I’ll be doing my own headlining tours. And that one just, it really made sense to me in the sense that I got to dream, and I got to see ‘this is what my vision would look like if I did a tour.’ You know? “Yeah, it went very well. Very well.”
“And I love country music to this day, and I might do another record in the future.”
“You know, it’s funny because raising the kids right now is a lot of work. … But I feel like I’m planning for my future. I feel like the more kids, the merrier. You just gotta get through the season of, like, no sleep. And that lasts for quite some time. And lots of sacrifice. “So I’m just bracing myself. I keep telling myself this: ‘I’ll thank myself later.’ I come from a family of six kids and there’s such a richness that comes during when we all get together for holidays. Now there’s a lot of drama – I’ll say that, unfortunately. But I guess that comes with it, doesn’t it?”
Mr Moser gave a very favorable review of Danny’s first headlining tour last year. You can read it HERE.
Danny Gokey Performing a Carrie Underwood Song in 2009
While Carrie Underwood will be mentoring, performing and having her songs featured on May 13th on the new season of “American Idol“, we prefer to flashback to 2009. That’s right, Season 8 of “American Idol” when Danny Gokey performed Carrie’s hit song, “Jesus Takes the Wheel”.
On their “Rise Out of the Dark Tour” there are THREE American Idol alumni! In this short parody we have our favorites becoming the judges as Mandisa portrays Randy Jackson, Jasmine Murray is Paula Abdul and Danny Gokey plays against character as Simon Cowell — or is Danny really this mean, LOL! We love how much Mandisa and Danny get into their roles and accents — and Jasmine? She’s appropriately sweet as Paula.
“American Idol” has announced that Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan will be joining pop star, Katie Perry, at the judges table when it comes to ABC Network in Spring of 2018. Being a fansite for Danny Gokey, why is that news here? Well, Danny was a Season 8 finalist and he has a connection to all three new judges. To read AI’s press release click HERE.
Lionel Richie is a singer, songwriter, record producer and international superstar with a discography of albums and singles that are second to none. His music is part of the fabric of pop music; in fact, Richie is one of only two songwriters in history to achieve the honor of having No. 1 records for nine consecutive years. With more than 100 million albums sold
Mandisa announced on her social media that she will be touring with Danny Gokey this fall! it is the “Rise Out of the Dark” Tour! (Cleverly, that is the combined title of their albums.) We may have started this tour rumor and we are excited to see it confirmed! The tour poster shows special guests of Love and the Outcome and Jasmine Murray (also an American Idol alumnus).
We will keep you posted with tour dates and cities when the full announcement rolls out! Here is what we know so far:
The fall tour is set to make stops in MO, TX, AR, MS, FL, LA, NC, VA, NY, PA, OK, CO, GA, TN, IN, IL, MI, KY, OH, VA and MD. Also AL.
Update: All cities are announced and are on listed on DGNews Calendar (except the last four). Presale is currently underway with the code: iamgoing
Are you excited for the relaunch of “American Idol” in 2018?
Do yo remember voting for Danny Gokey on “American Idol” or sitting on pins and needles to hear if he was “safe” for another week? Some of us owe (or blame?) “American Idol” for helping us find some amazing artists. Maybe even our FAVORITE artist. (And in my case, sucking up an incredible amount of time. But it is all good; I have some awesome friends from it, too!)
In a recent article by Fred Bronson for Billboard, he talks about what he would like to see in the reboot of the iconic show. And we are pleased that out of the 150 artists that made the top 10 through those fifteen seasons, he has this to say:
THE CONTESTANTS: We’ve always believed that Idol rises and falls on the shoulders of the contestants. The series found a lot of amazing talent over 15 years………. Give us a talent roster as great as Ruben Studdard, Clay Aiken and Kimberley Locke or Carrie Underwood, Bo Bice and Vonzell Solomon or David Cook, David Archuleta and Syesha Mercado or Kris Allen, Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey, and we’ll be happy.
FOX NY interviewed Danny Gokey‘s about his new music. This video by the “Morning Blend” of Fox 4 updates viewers on Danny, whether Idol will return in 2018 and the most successful contestants. (We see Danny ‘rising’ on that list!)
