It was the wish of some of us to do a revisit of Danny’s version of “My Wish” from his “American Idol” tour in 2009 as a part of Season 8. So, I searched my archives and came up with this special nugget!
I also have the youtube of Danny’s performance of the same song in his hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Those were some huge crowds!
Danny Gokey and Shae Wilbur are back singing together in the new song, “Unmovable”.
She auditioned and made it to Hollywood for Season 8 of “American Idol” where she became friends with Danny. Sharon and her father, Joel Chernoff, were back up singers for Paul Wilbur. Because Joel Chernoff is best friends with Paul Wilbur, Sharon and her husband, Joel Wilbur, grew up together. In addition to singing, Sharon also writes songs and is TV host in Florida and recently with Season 17 of “American Idol”.
Danny Gokey recently shared a clip of his singing the song “Don’t Stop Believing” and it reminded us of his “American Idol” days! Back in 2009, as a part of the Top 9 on Season 8, Danny and the rest of the contestants did a group performance of the famous song by Journey. Danny is featured at the 2 minute mark in this video.
On their “Rise Out of the Dark Tour” there are THREE American Idol alumni! In this short parody we have our favorites becoming the judges as Mandisa portrays Randy Jackson, Jasmine Murray is Paula Abdul and Danny Gokey plays against character as Simon Cowell — or is Danny really this mean, LOL! We love how much Mandisa and Danny get into their roles and accents — and Jasmine? She’s appropriately sweet as Paula.
“American Idol” has announced that Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan will be joining pop star, Katie Perry, at the judges table when it comes to ABC Network in Spring of 2018. Being a fansite for Danny Gokey, why is that news here? Well, Danny was a Season 8 finalist and he has a connection to all three new judges. To read AI’s press release click HERE.
Lionel Richie is a singer, songwriter, record producer and international superstar with a discography of albums and singles that are second to none. His music is part of the fabric of pop music; in fact, Richie is one of only two songwriters in history to achieve the honor of having No. 1 records for nine consecutive years. With more than 100 million albums sold
Are you excited for the relaunch of “American Idol” in 2018?
Do yo remember voting for Danny Gokey on “American Idol” or sitting on pins and needles to hear if he was “safe” for another week? Some of us owe (or blame?) “American Idol” for helping us find some amazing artists. Maybe even our FAVORITE artist. (And in my case, sucking up an incredible amount of time. But it is all good; I have some awesome friends from it, too!)
In a recent article by Fred Bronson for Billboard, he talks about what he would like to see in the reboot of the iconic show. And we are pleased that out of the 150 artists that made the top 10 through those fifteen seasons, he has this to say:
THE CONTESTANTS: We’ve always believed that Idol rises and falls on the shoulders of the contestants. The series found a lot of amazing talent over 15 years………. Give us a talent roster as great as Ruben Studdard, Clay Aiken and Kimberley Locke or Carrie Underwood, Bo Bice and Vonzell Solomon or David Cook, David Archuleta and Syesha Mercado or Kris Allen, Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey, and we’ll be happy.
Danny Gokey appeared on “Harry” for an interview and to perform his latest single, “The Comeback”. It was a fun interview. We’ll post as much of it as we find and the performance.
