It’s been a while since we’ve heard Danny Gokey talk about his charitable organization, Sophia’s Heart. In this interview at the GMA Dove Awards with CCM Magazine‘s Nicole Mullen, we learn that SHF is in the midst of a refocusing and developing a strategic new direction. The operations are closed in Nashville (and in Milwaukee? We don’t know.) but they have been supporting other organizations that are building wells, churches, etc.
Sophia’s Heart is hosting an end of year holiday auction to raise funds for an after school music and arts program in Milwaukee. Funds will go to support programming needs such as bus passes for students, uniforms, music equipment and their annual tour.
Sophia’s Heart Foundation provides an after school music and arts program for at-risk youth, ages 11 -17, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin founded by BMG Recording Artist and American Idol alumnus, Danny Gokey.
The annual benefit for the SHF Milwaukee Area youth and arts program celebrated its fifth gala in style at the elegant WCCC location. Auction items, cocktail hour, wonderful dining, performances by the Sophia’s Heart Choir and the foundation’s founder, Danny Gokey, topped the evening!
The Sophia’s Heart Kids Choir opened the evening’s entertainment by performing covers of pop hits and an original song, too. Danny Gokey sang, “Symptoms”, “Better Than Gold”, “Long Train Running”. The Sophia’s Heart Kids Choir returned to back Danny on, “Hope in Front of Me”, “Better Than I Found It”, “My Life” and more.
Danny Gokey comes back to Wisconsin as the headliner!
While I already had the Danny’s December Christmas show dates in Green Bay and Eau Claire, this announcement was months earlier and in the same town as some of our family! I bought 6 VIP/Artist Circle tickets even before I knew who could go.
These details ALWAYS work out for Danny concerts. <3
Seven years after his season of “American Idol” ended, we think this just might be the most unusual promotion…. Danny Gokey‘s face is the inspiration for an 11 acre cornfield maze! It’s being used to promote an upcoming fundraiser at the Florence Civic Center’s Uptown Ballroom on Thursday, Nov. 17.
The charity event will benefit the House of Hope and Sophia’s Heart Foundation. Organizers report that the idea to use Danny’s face was agreed to by his management in just an hour! (Early consent was essential since mazes have to be planted that way, not cut into the shape!) and that Danny is expected to get a bird’s eye view of the maze by riding a helicopter over the field the day of the show!
“FLORENCE, SC – The Pee Dee region will welcome the 2016 Christmas season with both reverence and celebration when Contemporary Christian music chart-topper and K-Love’s Male Artist of the Year Danny Gokey comes to the Florence Civic Center’s Uptown Ballroom on Thursday, Nov. 17.
You may know Danny Gokey as that big voiced singer with an equally big heart, but do you know about his foundation, Sophia’s Heart?
“One Heart…Touching Many,”
This four word phrase conveys the vision and passion of Sophia’s Heart President and Founder, Danny Gokey. Through its unique transitional housing program, Sophia’s Heart is finding success to break the cycle of homelessness and keeping families together in Nashville.
In Danny’s hometown of Milwaukee, he has created a culturally relevant Music and Arts program that is both educational and a supportive service to under-served youth. The program is performed and led by Sophia’s Heart’s students. It creates opportunities for the following key outcomes: Leadership, improved self-esteem, team building, cultural diversity, educational focus, and as a positive alternative to gangs, drugs & violence.
