The first organization to be helped by Danny Gokey’s new charity is People Loving Nashville
“After 10 years of serving the homeless in downtown Nashville, our friends at People Loving Nashville needed a new home to be able to continue what they do. They only had a 30 day notice to vacate their current kitchen and find another place!”
In the video below, Danny Gokey explains his vision behind his new tour, the Hope Encounter, and his new charity “Better Than I Found It”/Be a Light in this interview with Andrew Greer. Also, Danny performs an acoustic performance of “Hope in Front of Me”
When Danny Gokey takes on a hit song by Justin Timberlake, we think it deserves its own post! Here is Danny encouraging us to dance, dance, dance! We were happily surprised to hear this pop song in Danny’s set, but it sure fits the theme of this tour. You go, Danny!
This song debuted atop the US Billboard Hot 100, opening with 379,000 downloads in its first week, marking Timberlake’s fifth number one single in the country, and making it the twenty-sixth song on the Hot 100 history to start at the summit of the chart. Additionally, it became the second song to spend its first ten weeks atop the Digital Songs chart. It was written, sung and produced by Justin Timberlake for the soundtrack to the film Trolls(2016),
I’m intending this post for some of my photos, video snippets and things found from Danny Gokey’s headlining of the Hope Encounter Tour! Here is what I recall as the set list. (Not necessarily in correct order – and I may have missed a song.)

Where was Danny? I see Danny’s band (Miguel, Bernard, Eric, Sam) in this Instagram post from his road manager and sound engineer, Tony Palacios. But who would have thought that Justin Bieber would be at CityFest in Grand Rapids, MI? Did Danny get to meet him?
If you weren’t in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for last weekend’s CityFest, you missed another epic evangelistic win for the Luis Palau team. For two days, approximately 15,000 people gathered at Ah-Nab-Awen Park to hear the Gospel. Popular Christian artists, like Lecrae, Danny Gokey, Toby Mac, and Mandisa led the throngs in explosive worship. But Justin Bieber garnered the most buzz even though he never made it to the main stage. He joined other entertainers backstage and watched the performances from the sidelines.
This opportunity to headline a tour and hiring a choreographer,Laurie Ann Gibson, to produce the show.
Leaving BMG, where he generated three hit albums, including a Christmas release. He feels his current label has more connections and can get him on the proper Spotify playlists. (Yes, Spotify matters now as much as radio and Capitol has experience in both arenas.)
After working for years on a non-profit himself in honor of his late first wife, he is now putting together a TV show which is based on that very same “hope” theme and focusing on each non profit group’s mission to make the world a better place.
Danny Gokey’s first headlining tour, The Hope Encounter, kicks off on September 20th in Peoria, Illinois and wraps up on November 4th in Chattanooga, Tennessee. With 28 stops in between (including one at the beautiful Pabst Theater in Danny’s hometown of Milwaukee) we hope to catch some additional news and previews about his new album. It is anticipated that the first single will be performed on the tour. It is also reported that his next album will be released in spring 2019. Hopefully Nashville spring, not Wisconsin spring….
